Job Description
The DFW Duopoly Research Director (KXAS-NBC/KXTX-Telemundo) is responsible for managing a team of two in providing television and digital research-based audience and competitive insights for sales, news, marketing, and general management.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Meet with sales management and account executives, develop pitch strategies, analyze data, and prepare persuasive client presentations on the NBC5/Telemundo39 advantage
- Manage all aspects of syndicated audience research available for broadcast and digital properties, including Nielsen, ComScore and Adobe Analytics
- Pull and analyze qualitative research such as Scarborough, Simmons, Vivvix (Kantar), and Polk to gain insight into viewers and users
- Manage, track, and analyze Nielsen and ComScore samples to ensure quality measurement
- Maintain sales inventory, including upcoming programming, historical ratings, and sales estimates
- Design, plan, and retain vendors for primary research projects
- Provide news programming research and insights for strategic planning initiatives
- Maintain relationships with research vendors
- Understand and be able to explain new and emerging platforms like OTT and FAST channels to station staff
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years in the media research field with expertise in Nielsen and ComScore measurement, syndicated products (Simmons, Scarborough, Vivvix (Kantar, IHS Markit) and emerging alternative audience measurement tools
- Familiarity with digital measurement tools (Adobe Analytics, comScore, etc.)
- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, etc.)
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Domo, etc.) and a passion for storytelling using data
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
- Must be 18 years or greater
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Must be willing to work in the Dallas/Fort Worth area just south of DFW airport.
- Must accept Solutions as NBCUniversal’s Dispute Resolution Program
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proactively present fresh data and ideas to the sales team to help them sell our platforms
- Clear and effective communicator; excellent written and verbal skills; comfortable presenting to station clients and senior management
- Independent thinker, able to leverage resources to tackle large scale projects from start to finish
- Able to effectively guide, mentor and motivate team
- Knowledgeable about research, technology and media industry trends, including new methodologies, new data sources and new partners
- Team player with ability to juggle multiple projects, effectively prioritize stakeholder needs, meet tight deadlines
- Spanish language skills a plus
