The Director of Technology will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and management of all technology-related initiatives across the United Charter High Schools network, the largest network of charter high schools in NYC. This role ensures the seamless operation of IT infrastructure, data security, and instructional technology to support teaching, learning, and administrative functions. The Director of Technology will work closely with school leaders, IT support staff, and vendors to enhance technology integration, data security and efficiency across all campuses. This individual must be proactive, adaptable, and committed to advancing the educational experience through innovative technology solutions. Local travel necessary.

Essential Job Functions:
Daily Job Functions:
- Oversee and ensure the functionality of network infrastructure, hardware, and software across Central Office and all school sites.
- Monitor and respond to IT support requests from students, staff, and faculty to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
- Manage and maintain cybersecurity protocols, ensuring data privacy compliance with FERPA and other regulations.
- Oversee and support the functionality of Student Information Systems (SIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi, VPN, and cloud-based platforms.
- Ensure that classroom technology, including smartboards, projectors, and student devices, is operational and properly maintained.
- Supervise IT support staff, ensuring effective delegation and issue resolution across schools.
- Maintain technology inventory and coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
- Communicate with school leadership regarding technology-related concerns, updates, and best practices.
- Work with school administration around school-based technology programs.
Monthly Job Functions:
- Develop and implement a strategic IT plan aligned with the network’s educational and operational goals.
- Provide professional development and training to teachers and staff on the effective use of educational technology.
- Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to enhance instruction and school operations.
- Review and manage IT budgets, including procurement of hardware, software, and services.
- Conduct system security audits and ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with academic leadership to enhance digital learning tools and student engagement through technology.
- Assess IT infrastructure across all schools and propose upgrades or enhancements where necessary.
- Liaise with external vendors and service providers to ensure optimal performance of IT solutions.
- Develop policies and procedures for technology use, including device management, data security, and acceptable use policies.
