POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Technology Business Development is a new role in the office of the CTO, spanning our internal technical community and external partners to drive Advanced Energy’s technology forward. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in product design engineering, with a current focus on business development and growth. This role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and is based in either our Fort Collins, CO or Wilmington, MA design centers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and manages the technical funnel and any related programs from external collaborators, partners, and technology insertion targets, including:
- Development of a technical pipeline for technology insertion targets while coordinating collaboration activities between AE and the target
- Knowledge of business valuations, funding stages, and due-diligence activities
- Coordinates internal projects focused on advanced technology development
- Drives opportunities to better leverage AE’s top talent:
- Connects AE’s key innovation leaders, including Members of Technical Staff and Engineering Ambassadors across the Business Units to drive technology collaboration and knowledge sharing. This includes the facilitation of AE’s bi-annual Technical Summits
- Works with AE senior technologists and subject matter experts across all regions, coordinating opportunities within and between to leverage their knowledge and expertise
- Displays intellectual curiosity and excitement for new technology and in AE’s related markets and applications
- Other duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work within standard office environment and effectively collaborate with remote teams.
- Position is based in Fort Collins, CO or Wilmington, MA with domestic and international travel required (up to 25%)

- Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented culture

- Ability to interact effectively with customers and industry partners
- Excellent program management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of an organization
- Strong track record for managing comfortably with ambiguity and having flexibility with respect to changing situations and differing views
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years experience in hardware or power electronics product development role, and 5+ years’ experience in a business role such as Product Marketing, Business Development, General Manager or other
- Experience in one of the following markets: semiconductor wafer fabrication, industrial power conversion, medical systems and devices and/or defense/aerospace.
EDUCATION:
- Masters or PhD in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or Physics preferred, MBA also preferred, or applicable business related work experience
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) plus an MBA, or applicable business related work experience
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $175,000 to $245,000 per year.
