JOB TITLE:     Director of Staff Development & Program Quality, Exempt    

DEPARTMENT:    Program Services

REPORTS TO:    Vice President of Programs & Advancement


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Since 1891, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) has provided high-quality, community-based youth development services to youth in San Francisco and beyond. Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Programs & Advancement the Director of Staff Development & Program Quality will focus on the training and professional development of our program staff and leading and implementing a robust Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process that ensures the highest quality of programs and services for our youth. This staff member will partner with the program leadership, including Clubhouse Directors, Citywide, and School-Based Directors to develop training curriculum for program staff. 


The goals for the position are to improve staff performance and engagement; identify and implement learning solutions that remove performance gaps; and track staff completion of key trainings. 


This is an in person, hands on role, so prospective candidates should expect to spend a significant portion of their time at Clubs, while functioning as a trusted organizational leader.


This position is full time (40 hours weekly) and is benefits eligible. 

Requirements

 

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

Supervision - 20%

  • Supervise and support the Staff Development & Program Quality manager, providing coaching, professional development, and performance management to ensure growth and effectiveness.
  • Set clear goals and priorities for the SDPQ team, aligning training initiatives with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Foster a culture of learning and collaboration, ensuring that staff feel supported in their professional development and skill-building.
  • Manage workflows and delegation, ensuring training programs and resources are developed and delivered efficiently.

Staff Professional Development - 50%

  • Ensure BGCSF’s core values and organizational philosophies are incorporated in all learning and development activities across departments. 
  • Provide professional development and coaching to all Club staff who facilitate internal training to ensure learning and development standards are upheld across the organization.
  • Under the guidance of the leadership of Club Services & Program Services, support the development and implementation of trainings that strengthen the professional skills and program delivery skills of program staff.
  • Play a leadership role in co-coordinating all aspects of Safety Awareness Day and Managers Safety Awareness Day, calling on the leadership and experience of senior staff at BGCSF. 
  • Ensure adult learning principles and youth member focus are incorporated into training design.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with Assistant Clubhouse Directors focused on programming methodologies, CQI, and leadership development, putting them on a path for advancement in the organization.

Implementation of BGCSF's Programming Continuous Quality Improvement Process – 30%

  • Execution of BGCSF's YPQA process.
  • Create strategies to improve performance through skills development trainings and professional development.
  • To ensure program compliance and improvement, foster a collaborative relationship with the Institutional Giving and Outcomes & Measurement Departments.
  • Support Clubs in drafting and executing annual outcomes-driven action plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of program quality initiatives, evaluations, and Club/Site Action plans.
