UIC Arctic Research & Logistics Director of Operations  is responsible for overseeing many of a business's daily activities, directing and coordinating actions across an organization. Directors also oversee the various departments in the business, and can locate areas for improvement. This position reports directly to the General Manager to support contracting and financial efforts.

This position reports directly to the General Manager to support contracting and financial efforts.

 

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. To receive and respond to instructions/assignments, must be able to read, write and speak English. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Grant and Research funding knowledge
  • Develop research and funding plans
  • Develop evaluation tools

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Masters in Science required
  • 10-years+ experience with science logistics

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
  • Occasional field work and deployment to remote locations may be required.
