Job Description
The Director, Multiplatform will lead the digital properties and initiatives for NBC Local in Washington, DC which includes NBC4 and Telemundo 44.
Responsibilities
- Define the overall editorial vision and Multiplatform strategy across core digital, streaming and social media platforms
- Lead digital team in executing on a day-to-day basis including working across platforms including broadcast
- Develop strategic plans for core and off-platform coverage of events, elections, severe weather and initiatives
- Manage editorial and business strategy, operations and direction for nbcwashington.com, telemundowashington.com, social media accounts, mobile and OTT apps and streaming platforms
- Partner with peers across the news division to align on innovation and transformation efforts for a multi-platform, story-centric operation
- Participate in editorial and content meetings and act as liaison between television and digital platforms
- Develop audience development strategies to increase followers, viewership and content consumption across all platforms
- Lead trainings with content creators and staff to ensure they are using the most effective technology and methods to reach current and new audiences
- Coordinate with Brand Marketing to promote products and talent
- Collaborate with counterparts in other local markets to share best practices and resources across all of NBCU Local’s and NBC News' digital platforms
- Liaise with national and local station leadership team, providing regular updates of business strategies and objectives
- Monitor traffic, qualitative and engagement trends for all platforms
- Participate in business development with sales management and account executives to provide sales ideation.
- Seek and review business development opportunities for all news platforms
- Present editorial projects, franchises and associated traffic and qualitative metrics to sales team on regular basis, providing specific advertising solution for clients. Attend client meetings as necessary.
- Partner closely with Community on local station initiatives
- Manage local contracts on content partnerships and products
- Uphold journalistic standards, ethics and ensure adherence to NBC News Group legal and standards policies
- Lead digital team meetings, providing summary of editorial, marketing, business development and research efforts
- Set and monitor traffic and engagement goals for editorial team
- Supervise, mentor, develop and manage the newsroom staff
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a broadcast TV, Cable TV and/or Digital Content management or operational role
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be able to work early morning, night and weekend hours when as necessary
