About Construction Management - AECOM Tishman

Since 1898, AECOM Tishman has managed the construction of some of the world’s most iconic buildings. We employ a diversified preconstruction and construction management staff of structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers; architects; technology specialists; scheduling and cost control personnel; and construction estimators and accountants. We provide expert consultation and guidance in all phases of a building project, from master-planning, preconstruction options evaluation and decision-making, to design review, estimating, and scheduling, through procurement, construction and occupancy. AECOM Tishman’s staff manages all consultants and contractors on a project, representing client interests throughout the project cycle. In total, AECOM Tishman has built more than 900 million square feet – including the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center in New York.

Job Description

AECOM/Tishman, a leader in general construction in the NYC area has an opening for a Director of Mechanical Estimating, to support our current and future construction projects. 

  • Responsible for estimating strategy, policies, and programs including complex bid proposals development, design and development of estimating compliance programs, policies and procedures. 
  • Provides cost information for proposals, studies or projects by determining quantities, material costs, direct man-hours, labor costs subcontract costs, indirect costs, and engineering costs. 
  • Maintains familiarity with estimating development and activities outside the company and assesses their significance, suggesting application to the company business where warranted. 
  • Responsible and ensures the company’s profitability and cost control measures are represented.
  • Be familiar with current labor and material pricing, maintain a historic database by project and system type.
  • Establish good working relationships with trade subcontractors.
  • Familiar with estimating all elements of the Mechanical trades including:
    • Plumbing
    • Fire Protection
    • HVAC

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • BS Engineering/Construction Management or related curriculum 12 years of progressive experience estimating construction projects for a large vertical GC or contractor or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 4 years of leadership.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 12 years demonstrated construction experience.
  • Demonstrated construction experience in estimating Mechanical trades.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and to work with multi stakeholders.
  • Familiarity / Proficiency with the following software or internet-based programs: Blue Beam, OST, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Ability to read and take-off – Fire protection systems, Plumbing systems, HVAC systems.
  • Strong mathematic aptitude.
