The Director, Learning & Development, is responsible for overseeing and managing training across Precision for Medicine for an assigned region/area of responsibility as well as supporting and collaborating with the global L&D team.
Responsibilities include oversight and development of written policies, procedures, practice directions, training, and education as well as related communication, monitoring and reporting. The incumbent is also responsible for assessing training needs across functional roles and managing the development of training materials and delivery of training which may include functional and skills-based training. The incumbent oversees the creation and delivery of curricula and manages resources consistent with organizational goals. Creates implementation timelines and adapts deployment of personnel as needed to support operational objectives.
Director, Learning & Development, supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate within assigned region/area of responsibility.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Manages and provides leadership to L&D team members with assigned region/area of responsibility.
- Collaborates closely with key internal stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and define organizational needs and to develop, implement and evaluate training curricula.
- Develops programs and initiatives that align with, and support, organizational vision, priorities, and goals.
- Conducts consultations, facilitates discussions, and leads the analysis and identification of internal customers’ learning needs. Develops customized strategies and plans to address these needs effectively and efficiently.
- Leads the development and implementation of learning deliverables designed to meet global needs.
- Defines the methods and metrics to track, monitor and measure progress against organizational development and learning-related
- Continuously evaluates systems, processes and procedures for potential improvements and implements these improvements as
- Develops training and policies by assessing, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
- Oversee and participate in the development of training materials
- Identifies training and development opportunities and works with appropriate subject matter experts (internal and external) to develop training and development programs (i.e. indication training, GCP training, etc.)
- Prepares and distributes training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids. Determines most effective delivery model(s) for training programs (online, self-study, classroom, etc.)
- Ensures that all training materials and programs are compliant with laws and regulations governing the industry
- Keeps up with and applies the latest teaching techniques to a program delivery training environment
- Works to keep training programs vibrant and entertaining in order to engage employees and trainees
- Collaborates with Quality Assurance to identify potential training topics based on noted deficiencies in audits or adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), project plans and/or job descriptions
- Assists with the development/review of relevant SOPs
- Identifies, evaluates, selects, and manages third party vendors/consultants in the development and delivery of learning content.
- Coordinates and delivers educational programs
- Manages resources to ensure financial objectives are met within department
- Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.
Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience ideally in a scientific or healthcare discipline
- 10 years in a relevant life sciences role or equivalent experience or demonstrated competencies in the key requirements of the role
- At least 7 years as in operational project management or Learning & development, either in a Clinical Research Organization, Specialty laboratory or sponsor environment or equivalent experience
Other Required:
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and monitoring the strategies, programs, tools and processes that support organizational performance and contribute to employee engagement
- Ability to deliver classroom instruction
- Ability to influence without direct authority
