Director – Global Tax Technology Operations

About the role

Purpose:

Responsible for managing global tax systems, global technology incident and prioritization, and project solutions for Global Tax.   Lead global tax technology operations and data to identify, assess, implement, and integrate scalable data and technology solutions. Nike leverages Thomson Reuters OneSource Indirect Tax engine, Thomson Reuters Exemption Certificate Manager, SAP DRC and Edicom for E-Invoicing and digital reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive tax technology strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Provides leadership and direction to achieve financial and operational objectives within Global Tax
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance and optimization of the tax engine(s) and all digital government reporting applications
  • Facilitate indirect global tax data determination initiatives for enterprise and tax initiatives
  • Facilitate G/L validation and ONESOURCE indirect tax data transmission for monthly statutory compliance reporting via EY’s Global Tax Platform
  • Manage implementation of global tax SharePoint sites for ease of file retention and retrieval 
  • Lead and manage global centralized tax technology intake process and Tech incident management prioritization in collaboration with Nike Finance Technology
  • Manage tools supported by WHQ with configuration & maintenance of applications licensed by NIKE for use to support Global Tax processes
  • Manage project delivery details, coordinate with team members & ensure deadlines are met
  • Partners with supporting function stakeholders to manage Technology-wide scope impacts
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and efficiency gains across tax operations
  • Partner with Nike Technology to manage vendors
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree finance, accounting, business or computer science
  • 10+ years experience implementing and managing a global indirect tax engine across multiple Geo’s and technical platforms
  • 3+ years experience with digital government reporting implementation, deployment, and operational management (e.g. SAFT, E Invoicing, B2G, etc)
  • Possess a solid understanding of Sales & Use, and/or VAT across multiple geographies as well as an expert understanding of accounting principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of Accounting, Tax, Finance, Supply Chain & Information Technologies for NIKE’s wholesale, retail and e-commerce units
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills; demonstrate understanding of complex tax concepts
  • Excellent project management skills with experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Experience leading global large scale technology implementations and integrations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with leading business process and information technology alignments
  • Knowledge of SQL, Jira, Confluence, Excel, Alteryx
