About the role

Are you an engineering leader looking for an opportunity to grow? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! This position directs a global engineering team providing technical direction & program level management for all phases of New Product Development. The ideal candidate will be an experienced innovator fully capable of pushing the limits of Power Supply technology within SolaHD’s products and markets.

This key senior leadership position will be responsible for engineering and technology of best-in-class Power Supply, Power Quality and Power Conversion solutions for the world’s most challenging industrial applications. Requirements push technology limits for reliability, power density and efficiency. The Director of Engineering will lead the conceptualization, design, development, and production introduction of state-of-the-art power products for hazardous and extreme environment applications. These application critical products include remote communication capabilities enabling IIOT monitoring and control.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead development programs for Power Supply, Power Quality and Power Conversion products applying best in class project management practices, innovation methods, and lean NPD processes

  • Define and develop connectivity solutions for remote monitoring and management of power supplies and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems

  • Establish product design direction, conduct design reviews, define qualification plans and continuous process improvement actions

  • Ensure product compliance with applicable safety, cyber security, and application certification standards. Coordinate product approval with the design validation and certification teams

  • Define product and technology roadmaps to satisfy customer needs and business requirements in collaboration with Marketing, Procurement, Planning, and Emerson Business Partners / Leaders

  • Identify technology and supply partners; Coordinate development activity with strategic partners including contract manufacturers. Oversee full product life cycle support from concept to end of life

  • Define system technology and architectures for delivering next generation capabilities

  • Formulate technical recommendations based on end user research and industry trends

  • Cultivate creative thinking, innovation and growth among associates

  • Monitor performance, provide feedback & conduct performance reviews to build effective teams

  • Meet engineering financial objectives by forecasting engineering requirements; preparing budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

  • Provide regular reports to executive leadership

For This Role You, Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering

  • Power Electronics Experience – High frequency and efficiency SMPS Power conversion

  • Working knowledge in the areas of mechanical design, electrical systems, and electronics

  • Knowledge in firmware and software development practices and processes

  • Demonstrated drive for innovation, technology leadership and successful product introductions

  • Exceptional leadership acumen of multidisciplinary global technical teams

  • Experience developing products to safety agency regulations

  • Excellent English Proficiency, Oral and Written

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Master of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or New Product Development

  • 15+ years of  progressively responsible experience in new product design, project management & leadership

  • Experience with power electronic design and agency certifications for hazardous locations

  • Experience working in with professionals globally
