The Role: We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Director, Platform Quality Engineering to spearhead the quality engineering efforts for our core AssetMark platform. This pivotal role will establish and drive the strategy, processes, and execution for our unified data model, API gateway, and various operational components (e.g., Model Management, Custodial & Trade Reconciliation, Securities). You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of a mission-critical platform that advisors and operations teams will rely on daily.

Key Responsibilities:

• QA Strategy & Leadership:
• Define, implement, and continuously improve the overall QA strategy, methodology, and processes for our platform, encompassing functional, integration, performance, security, and regression testing.
• Lead the adoption of best practices in software quality, test automation, and continuous testing within a CI/CD pipeline.
• Mentor and guide a growing team of QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering Leads, and other stakeholders to ensure a shared understanding of quality requirements and product vision.
• Test Planning & Execution:
• Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on detailed product requirements, RFCs, user stories, and technical specifications, with a strong focus on API testing and data integrity.
• Oversee the execution of all testing phases, including unit, integration, system, user acceptance (UAT), and regression testing.
• Manage test environments and data setup to ensure accurate and repeatable testing.
• Drive efforts to simulate real-world user scenarios, including high-volume trade processing, complex reconciliation flows, and various corporate action events.
• Automation & Tooling:
• Champion test automation initiatives across the platform, including API automation, data validation automation, and potentially UI automation where necessary.
• Select, implement, and manage appropriate QA tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman/Newman, Rest-Assured, Cypress, Selenium, JMeter, data comparison tools).
• Oversee the development and maintenance of robust, scalable, and maintainable automated test suites.
• Platform Specific QA:
• Data Integrity & Reconciliation: Lead testing efforts to validate the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data across various integrated systems (custodians, brokers, internal PMS/OMS) within the Unified Data Model. Focus heavily on reconciliation break detection and resolution logic.
• API Quality: Ensure the reliability, robustness, performance, and security of all exposed APIs (Client/Account, Trade/Order, Position/Valuation, Reconciliation, Corporate Actions, Audit). Conduct extensive API contract testing.
• Workflow Automation: Validate complex multi-step operational workflows, ensuring correct state transitions, exception handling, and downstream triggers.
• Model Management: Rigorously test the creation, publishing, versioning, assignment, and update mechanisms for advisor-created wrapper models, including associated trading workflows and exception handling.
• Performance & Scalability: Define and execute performance tests to ensure the platform can handle high transaction volumes and concurrent users inherent in wealth management.
• Security & Compliance: Work closely with security teams to ensure the platform adheres to stringent financial industry security standards and regulatory requirements.
