Capital One is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to work in our Card Data Engineering and Analytics organization. This leader will be accountable for driving a unified low-latency systems development and management strategy across the organization, partnering with various enterprise teams. This individual will also spearhead the creation of modern, scalable, and innovative real-time solutions that streamline operational workflows and enhance responsiveness. This role will build and guide teams to deliver highly available and performant data pipelines and platforms, fostering a culture of excellence in distributed systems engineering and operational best practices.
This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry’s best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. You Will
Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product focused software & data engineers
Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open-source products across all platforms
Work to modernize our existing tech stacks and data platforms
Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learning
Partner with architects, product owners, data professionals, and software & data engineers to drive the implementation of new applications
Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies
Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments and provide operational support for the applications
Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 5 years of people management experience
At least 7 year of software engineering or data engineering experience
At least 3 years of experience with cloud-based data platforms
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
7+ years of experience in data engineering, real-time system design, and distributed systems management
3+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools
3+ years of experience with AWS

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
