Job Description

The Credit Settlement Risk organization is responsible for protecting Visa from financial losses arising from the failure of Visa clients while enabling and supporting responsible innovation and business growth.

The primary responsibilities of the Director, Clients Portfolio Management is to oversee all the data for our top issuing and acquiring clients, as well as all sensitive clients, so we understand the entire view of assets and liability on our P&L and anything that can impact our net Risk position. The person will manage and enhance portfolio credit risk deliverables like client surveillance management and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

The Director, Clients Portfolio Management will report into the Global Credit Settlement Risk (CSR) organization and will drive a robust monitoring environment through designing optimized data gathering processes, efficient clients referential organization, streamlined aggregation methodologies, analysis, reporting, presentations, and written updates to management.

The successful candidate will have strong risk and credit skills and a deep understanding of the financial markets and payment ecosystems. The person will be able to develop and manage relationships across the company with a wide variety of partners based on trust, teamwork and knowledge. Primary responsibilities will include: 

  • Drive a robust effective monitoring environment leveraging reporting, data and other information and proactively identify and address relevant issues.
  • Provide key stakeholders timely and effective updates, summaries, and presentations to complement reporting and advise of emerging trends.
  • Follow through on potential issues to address and resolve as necessary.
  • Coordinate and contribute to presentations in response to regulatory and senior management requests.
  • Support enterprise initiatives and partner with applicable stakeholders across the firm on emerging topics.
  • Manage specific credit risk situations: complex clients exposing Visa to heightened risk, monitoring of the crypto industry as well as Fintech’s, etc.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Strong risk and credit risk skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven track record and ability to network, engage and influence senior and executive management.
  • The ability to clearly articulate results after analyzing large scales of data to senior management as the basis for supporting making key credit decisions.
  • Innovative and creative thinker with a proven track record of delivery and ability to manage several projects concurrently and see them through from conception to conclusion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear and concise recommendations to management.
  • Flexible and creative thinker with strong execution skills, generate out-of-the-box solutions, manage ambiguity, anticipate the impact of decisions/initiatives and able to move seamlessly from high level concepts to details.
  • Strong Visa or other payment industry knowledge.
