Thanks to new mobile and digital platforms and renewed interest in physical formats, discovery is unlimited and new generations of fans are listening to the best music ever recorded, regardless of when it was released, on their terms. Fans listen across genres and decades – a good song is a good song! Digital platforms make the entire history of recorded music available, and our job in catalog is to ensure that our artists are in the best position to be heard.
The A&R team at Global Catalog provides a frontline approach to catalog management with an emphasis on strategic marketing initiatives, finding opportunities in new and emerging technologies, and driving creative content for all forms of media.
Your role:
As a key player on the A&R team, you will develop, produce, and implement release plans for physical formats, audio and visual products, digital releases, online content, playlists, streaming strategy, and other various related products for Warner Music Group’s artists from the last 20 years. This role will span the Hip-hop, R&B, Pop, Rock, and Dance genres. We work closely with our frontline labels and artists under the Recorded Music division to develop new catalog opportunities in A&R.
Here you’ll get to:
- Own the full A&R lifecycle from research through production for frontline shallow catalog artists (both on and off roster) across multiple genres
- Create new and impactful ways to drive consumption, revenue, and relevance of shallow catalog by exploring the latest innovations in the marketplace
- Generate physical and digital product plans, release configurations, repertoire selection, liner notes, artwork elements and design, post-production, and mastering alongside the Global Catalog Marketing team
- Develop content for video platforms across artists and genres
- Set and supervise production plans collaboratively with the Marketing, Creative, and Production teams
- Work with product management to develop marketing materials, strategies, marketing plans, and campaigns
- Positively develop, manage, and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
- Partner with label departments on both domestic and international artist/album projects
- Be accountable for project expenditures and budgets
- Liaise with Business Affairs and Finance to ensure approvals and workable P&L's
About you:
- Prior working experience in catalog repertoire with an understanding of the catalog music business and frontline
- Extensive knowledge of music industry catalogs in the US and internationally, with a focused interest on WMG's catalog
- Passion for the creative process of assembling products that extend the reach of WMG labels and brands both domestically and internationally
- A proven track record of initiating, managing, and completing relevant aspects of recorded music releases and projects
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to maintain, prioritize, and implement a fast-paced schedule of releases and handle many projects, platforms, and formats
