Department: Continuing, Professional and Workforce Education - State
General Statement of Job
The Customer Service Technician interacts with the public and College employees and performs a wide variety of customer service and office support functions including responding to inquiries and providing general information and assistance to the public and College employees regarding the Continuing, Professional, and Workforce Education programs.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Provides a positive, friendly, and knowledgeable impression of the College, interacts with the public and College employees and provides exceptional customer service.
Performs a wide variety of customer service and office support functions including responding to inquiries and providing general information and assistance to the public and
College employees regarding the Continuing, Professional, and Workforce Education programs.
Manages front reception area.
Assists with recruitment and mails out brochures and flyers in response to inquiries.
Registers students for courses and verifies payments have been made when applicable.
Creates and updates student database.
Maintains course schedule for class status; provides status to instructors/students.
Accepts payments for courses as applicable, logs money orders and routes payments to Cashier’s Office for processing.
Cancels classes as appropriate; notifies instructors/students and drops students from the enterprise system.
Prepares instructional packets for instructors; prepares copies; arranges for supplies.
Produces certificates of completion for students.
Creates, distributes and collects course packets.
Collects student grades and enters when needed.
Assists departmental staff with marketing and data retrieval.
Supports college and community events including, but not limited to, attending and serving as host at the sign-in table and assisting with setup and tear down, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
To qualify, one of the following must be met:
College Certificate
A minimum of 30 earned college hours
High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year of directly related experience
At least six (6) months of customer service experience, required. Experience in a higher education institution using enterprise systems; e.g. Banner, preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoin
