Key performance areas

The Digital Products and Services Specialist is responsible for creating and executing a strategic business plan for the sale and support of all Digital Products and Services products and within assigned geographic area, in support of the Cluster/Sales Area/Segment local business plans.  They are the lead/main responsible for some parts of the portfolio and are more of 1st line of contact for FLS for other parts which may have other experts within DPS.  They should be able to at least have the initial discussions with the customer about the full DPS portfolio.  In execution of the plan, they will be responsible for coordinating, managing and supporting the required resources needed to achieve sales of the Digital Products and Services portfolio according to defined targets for the assigned area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop DPS opportunities within assigned areas according to set objectives and strategies
  • Navigate to customer stakeholders and hold relationships with key decision makers outside of the factory floor environment we traditionally.
  • Drive the sales of DPS solutions either individually or in cooperation with existing Channels, Sales and OMRD resources. Identify and support new channel development opportunities, as needed.
  • Qualify and prioritize DPS leads and opportunities in cooperation with local FLS resources.
  • Manage DPS “pilot” projects and support “routine” projects, as needed.
  • Use a consultative sales approach to understand our customers’ diverse and specific business needs, apply the appropriate product and/or solution knowledge to meet those needs.  Where required, liaison with central functions to create products and commercial models to meet needs when none exist.
  • Must have the ability to prepare and present formal proposals to customer decision makers and stakeholders, including executive level contacts, where appropriate. 
  • Lead and/or support sales negotiations of the DPS portfolio either directly with customers or in conjunction with FLS.
  • Coordinate complex decision-making processes by providing appropriate technical and commercial input to overcome customer objections to closing a sale.
  • Secure that commercial terms are within set targets and that we deliver in line with customer expectations and agreement.
  • Support and leverage the existing strategic partnerships within DPS as well as help to identify, nurture and execute new partnership opportunities.
  • Provide market and customer feedback to the Global DPS organization to enhance the offer portfolio, current business models and Go to Market and Sales strategy.
  • Communicate our Digital Products and Services vision and strategy internally and externally to create significant awareness of our leadership in this area. This may include taking part in industry events and making written contributions to publications.

Other key responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of and experience in manufacturing operations with a particular focus on the machining business.
  • Solid understanding of the overall Machine Shop value stream.
  • General understanding of basic manufacturing financial principles with deep knowledge of Machining Economics.  
  • Understanding of current manufacturing production technology and software, such as ERP, MES, CAD/CAM, OEE monitoring etc.
