Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate new strategic investment opportunities aligned to Citi’s priorities in specialty lending, private credit, asset-backed finance, origination infrastructure, collateral data, servicing technology, workflow automation and AI-enabled financial services
  • Develop and maintain investment theses in priority areas and convert those theses into actionable pipeline, diligence plans and investment recommendations
  • Lead or support the full transaction lifecycle, including initial screen, strategic rationale, financial analysis, valuation, commercial diligence, risk assessment, governance review, term sheet negotiation, documentation and internal approvals
  • Prepare clear investment committee materials that articulate the strategic rationale, financial case, valuation, key risks, downside protections, governance rights, commercial pathway and expected value to Citi
  • Partner with business stakeholders to validate commercial use cases, identify internal sponsors, test adoption assumptions and establish measurable strategic outcomes before and after investment
  • Assess companies across both financial and strategic dimensions, including business model quality, origination quality, asset performance, credit risk, funding model, unit economics, revenue quality, technology differentiation, regulatory considerations, scalability and exit potential
  • Evaluate transaction structures, governance rights, information rights, board or observer rights, minority protections, follow-on obligations, conflicts, accounting implications, RWA impact and regulatory constraints
  • Analyze the quality and durability of underlying assets, including collateral characteristics, historical performance, loss assumptions, advance rates, servicing capabilities, funding strategy and sensitivity to macroeconomic conditions
  • Support negotiations with founders, management teams, existing investors, financial sponsors, strategic co-investors and commercial counterparties
  • Manage a portfolio of existing investments, including regular performance reviews, valuation updates, risk assessments, board preparation and internal stakeholder reporting
  • Help portfolio companies navigate Citi where appropriate, including introductions to relevant product, risk, banking, markets, technology, operations, procurement and business stakeholders
  • Drive value creation from existing portfolio companies by converting strategic intent into measurable adoption, revenue, cost reduction, better asset access, improved underwriting, operational efficiency or faster time to market
  • Identify portfolio risks early, escalate appropriately and work with internal partners to determine remediation, restructuring, follow-on, exit or impairment recommendations
  • Represent Citi professionally with founders, venture investors, financial sponsors, private credit platforms, lending businesses, infrastructure providers, fintech companies and strategic partners
  • Mentor junior team members on investment analysis, financial modeling, diligence, credit analysis, memo writing, portfolio management and internal governance
  • Contribute to senior management updates, portfolio reviews, pipeline reviews, business strategy discussions and ad hoc analysis for Citi leadership
