The full-time Nutritionist position is responsible for working with staff in the Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables (JSY) SNAP-Education Program. Tasks could include developing or revising nutrition policies and providing technical assistance to contractors on nutrition services. This individual will actively participate in unit and bureau staff meetings and assignments.
Description of Duties:
• 65% - Provide nutrition support and technical assistance to contract manager(s) in administering the public health nutrition program: Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables (JSY), a SNAP-Education program. Actively participate in programmatic meetings, and other work groups as needed; assist in coordination of contractor staff meetings and trainings; and review newly created nutrition related materials. Facilitate/coordinate program creative projects such as: maintaining/updating the JSY website; overseeing recipe testing and development of recipe cards; lesson plan revision and development; development and monitoring of JSY policy, system, and environmental (PSE) activities, etc.
• 15% - Compile and analyze program data.
• 10% - Actively participate in unit staff meetings and assignments. Complete special assignments and address urgent, time sensitive projects as required or requested by supervisor, unit coordinator, and/or Division Director in a timely, professional manner. Other projects, as applicable.
• 5% - Assist with development of JSY program policies and procedures, trainings and training manuals.
• 5% - Plan and participate in Division-wide activities and represent the Division of Nutrition on issues related to obesity prevention strategies. Assist Division and unit obesity prevention events, trainings, and promotions; and respond to inquiries and requests for current nutrition information and resources.
This is an on-site and full time position.
Requirements
Qualifications
Candidate must be a Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligible for Registration. Ideally this candidate should be proficient in Microsoft 365 suite and have strong writing skills with at least two years of experience in community nutrition at the local level. Preference will be given to candidates with database and data analysis experience.
