Mechanical Tech II

Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician II to support maintenance operations at a gas plant in Tioga, ND. This role involves working closely with supervisors and engineers to carry out maintenance, testing, and repair of rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, and other critical plant machinery. Safety, reliability, and teamwork are at the core of this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanical engineers with planning, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment (compressors, pumps, rotating equipment, controls, etc.).
• Support the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and job packs.
• Execute planned maintenance work and document technical history using company tools (GRT, data sheets, etc.).
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate safety issues before starting work.
• Perform pump/motor alignments, mechanical seal changes, and rotating equipment maintenance.
• Request permits and escalate issues if permits cannot be issued in a timely manner.
• Provide feedback on job pack and process improvements.
• Participate actively in all required safety programs and meetings.

Qualifications

• Certification(s) in mechanical or related discipline preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Prior experience with gas plant, oil & gas, or industrial maintenance strongly required.
• Ariel gas compressor maintenance
• CAT 3600 series drivers
• Centrifugal pump repair and maintenance
• Alignment tools (pump/motor, compressor/motor alignments)
• Mechanical seal replacement on process pumps
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to heavy workloads and changing priorities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
