About the role

Sous Chef – Private Executive Residence

Potential Schedule: Saturday–Wednesday | 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our small, high-performing culinary team at a private executive residence. This role supports a refined, hospitality-driven environment where quality, discretion, and excellence are paramount. As Sous Chef, you’ll help lead breakfast and lunch service, oversee kitchen operations, and maintain the highest culinary and sanitation standards. You will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure each guest experience is thoughtful, consistent, and personalized.

What You’ll Do:

Menu Development & Execution

  • Assist in the creation and refinement of breakfast and lunch menus based on seasonality and guest preferences
  • Ensure consistency, precision, and elegance in all dishes, with attention to detail and dietary needs
  • Support development of off-menu requests and special culinary moments during guest stays

AM Culinary Operations

  • Lead kitchen preparation for early morning service and ensure timely, seamless breakfast and lunch execution
  • Manage daily mise en place and coordinate closely with house and guest schedules
  • Oversee proper opening, food safety protocols, and kitchen reset before handoff

Team Support & Communication

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Residence team to ensure culinary integration with housekeeping, guest experience, and special events
  • Assist with prep, inventory, and ordering for the residence’s kitchen and occasional off-site needs
  • Foster a clean, calm, and team-oriented kitchen environment

Safety, Cleanliness & Organization

  • Ensure all kitchen spaces, walk-ins, and storage areas are meticulously maintained
  • Follow all food handling, hygiene, and cleaning protocols in accordance with ServeSafe standards
  • Manage ingredient rotation, waste control, and labeling systems

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional kitchen experience in luxury, fine dining, or private chef settings
  • A calm, refined demeanor and strong commitment to guest discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong culinary fundamentals and a passion for hospitality-driven service
  • Excellent communication and ability to anticipate needs with minimal oversight
  • ServeSafe certified or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Culinary degree or comparable experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs., handle knives, hot equipment, and cleaning products safely
  • Comfort working in warm and cool environments (kitchen, refrigeration, dry storage)
