As a Senior Product Engineer for AMTPP (Focus on Bonding and Sealing for Automotive) within the central TEBG Product Engineering Organization, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world.
Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leading programs to improve quality, reduce costs, qualify alternate source-of-supply and expand product offerings to continue strong growth in the Bonding and Sealing field of AOEM business.
- Leading, alongside cross functional team, key Change Management Projects (CMP) for existing products and product line extensions.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of existing & new products for Structural Bonding Tapes, Weatherstrip Tapes and Acrylic Foam Tapes amongst others, within the Advanced Materials and Transportation Product Platform.
- Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to drive implementation and launch.
- Supporting quality and plant team in customer complaint resolution and product & process understanding (PPU).
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Three (3) years of Product Engineering and/or Product Development experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Materials, Polymer, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years of product engineering, process engineering, project engineering, project management, and/or research laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Experience in the tape industry and its material qualification processes
- Interpersonal skills, including working with plant professionals, global laboratory, and business team personnel.
- Experience with pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, including structural tapes and background in acrylic chemistry.
- Experience with coating processes, radiation processing, and/or extrusion processing.
- Experience in regulated product categories with expertise in product risk assessments, product safety, and product reliability.
- Knowledge around product and/or process liners
Work location:
- This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
