The Patient Representative is responsible for checking patients in and out of the clinic, guide them through the registration process and accurately document insurance information into their electronic medical record.

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate who can:

  • Confirm patient demographic, insurance, and general information is correct/updated in patient’s electronic medical record 
  •  Maintain a thorough understanding of insurance carriers to correctly identify, verify, and load carriers into the patient’s electronic medical record
  • Schedule appointments for patients by accurately interpreting the data contained on the patient’s check out sheet, following physician-specific criteria and individualized templates; provide the patient with a printed reminder
  • Review physician schedules prior to the date of service to confirm patient insurance is active and referrals are obtained
  • Accept co-payments and process credit cards for real-time payment; provide patients with a receipt
  • Maintain confidentiality adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
  • Interact with patients, guests, coworkers, and physicians in a professional and pleasant manner
  • Communicate clearly and often with patients, financial counselors, nursing staff, diagnostic imaging staff, and supervisor as needed throughout the day
  • Occasionally travel to satellite clinics to perform Front Desk functions for the visiting physician 

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare environment, which includes insurance verification.


The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Internet software, web-based insurance verification software, and practice management software.
