Occ Summary
The Advanced HUC provides leadership and support at the unit, CSU orentity level. This position collaborates with healthc are providers byperforming a variety of clerical duties to support patie nt care. Dutiesinclude greeting patients and visitors, answering the te lephone,responding to patient's requests, accessing the electronic medic alrecord(EMR), scheduling appointments and providing general clericalsup port as needed by the department. This position will consistentlyexhibit s excellent customer service skills.
Work Performed
A nswer patient signals and relay request to appropriate individual.Place calls for consultations as needed.Understand and is able to use the manu al back up system as needed.Assemble and maintain patient charts from ad mission through dischargePrepare and upload paper documents into the ele ctronic medical record(EMR).Navigate electronic medical record, access p atient information, generatereports, schedule appointments and manage ta sk list.Use available technology to request and coordinate patient trans port.Assign nursing staff to communication systems.Assist in reviewing c lerical duties and responsibilities with staffmembersOrder supplies for the unit; maintain inventory and replenish asnecessary.Copy, file, mail and/or distribute materials as appropriate.Maintain records as required by the unit (i.e. time sheets, continuingeducation information, etc.).Sc hedule maintenance in automated schedule system as directed by NurseMana ger or designeeGenerate reports as directed by Nurse Manager or designee (Example:compliance)Participate in review of activities and processes f or area of work.Assists in implementing changes to effect continual impr ovement inservices provided; and complies with regulatory and legal requ irements.Exhibit professional communication skill when answering the tel ephoneand interacting with patients, visitors and other staff members.Ro und and greet patients each shift and explain their role.Greets patients , visitors, physicians, and employees in a pleasantmanner and refers to appropriate area(s) as needed.Answers phones, screens and refers calls a s appropriate; deliversmessages and provides information to patients, vi sitors and personnelupon request.Assists unit management in tracking inv entory, stocking issues andmaintaining adequate patient care supplies.</ p>
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of HIS proce dures and of manual procedures when the system isdown.Successful complet ion of TJC and other regulatory/designatedrequirements within the probat ionary period.Knowledge and understanding of telephone etiquette.Knowled ge of general clerical practices and procedures.Knowledge of spelling an d medical terminology.Ability to apply specific departmental rules and r egulations relating toverifying, processing and maintaining records and forms.Ability to organize and set priorities.Ability to operate computer terminal and other office equipment.Ability to write legibly.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to deal tac tfully and courteously with the public.
