Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - General Surgery

Mayo Clinic in Arizona’s Department of Surgery provides quality care for complex, serious, and rare conditions. Our NP and PA staff work collaboratively with our surgeons in a team-based model. The Inpatient NA/PA staff will provide care for these complex surgical patients primarily in the inpatient setting, will see patients for follow-up in the outpatient clinic, and may, on occasion, step in as first assist in the OR and see patients.

• Spends ~80% of time supporting the inpatient service providing consults with indirect supervision.
• Sees patients post-discharge in the outpatient clinic.
• May spend minimal amount of time as First Assist in surgery, as needed.
• Robotic training preferred but not required.

During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.

New Grads will not be considered at this time.  APP Surgical and hospital experience. 

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as a ACNP.  

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.  

Additional Qualifications: 

BLS, ACLS, First Assist certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross and DEA registration required.
