As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will support pharmacists in providing pharmacy services. The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation and distribution of medications, inventory control, submitting tickets with the Emergency Department, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. A caregiver in this role works varying evening shifts from 9:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. or 9:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. and is required to work every other weekend and occasional holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
