Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Frequency Converters manages all Frequency Converter Stations and Equipment. Supports the operations by overseeing and supporting the maintenance and construction at Frequency Converter stations under the direction of the Director-ET. Provides support to the Electric Traction operations by ensuring equipment is functioning safely and effectively. Provides technical support to the Divisions and Project teams for Converter-related equipment.

Essential Functions

• Upgrade, maintain, and provide technical support for Amtrak’s owned Frequency Converter facilities.
• Supports various Division by helping with improvements, maintenance, and technical support for Frequency Converter Stations.
• Manages projects that improve Frequency Converter system’s operations and reliability. 
• Performs and supports root cause analysis for Electric Traction incidents at Frequency Converter Stations. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
• Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
• Plus 11 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have electrical troubleshooting ability 
• Must be able to read electrical schematics and prints.
• Experience in Railroad Operations
• Experience working with high voltage equipment.
• Experience with power converter station maintenance and operation.  

The salary/hourly range is $149,400.00 – $193,644.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
