Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking to hire an experienced Occupational Health Administrator (OHA) to oversee the Occupational Health Units (OHU) located around all the prison complexes within the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR).

This position also, will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of comprehensive occupational health care to the ADCRR employees statewide to include the Employee Wellness Program , medical surveillance, communicable disease management, case management of industrial injuries, early return to work program, supplemental benefits program, and medical certification for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) applicants.

Job Duties:

- Lead and oversee the Occupational Health Unit, ensuring the development and delivery of comprehensive occupational healthcare services for department employees
- Manage and coordinate medical surveillance, communicable disease control, case management of industrial injuries, early return-to-work programs, supplemental benefits, the ADOA Wellness Program, and FMLA medical certifications
- Develop and deliver specialized training in health education, workplace safety, and medical procedures
- Conduct and review quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with the Arizona Board of Nursing Scope of Practice, federal and state laws, and ADCRR policies and procedures related to occupational nursing
- Create and distribute health-related educational materials to promote employee wellness, disease prevention, and workplace safety
- Promote wellness programs and research additional programs that align with the needs of correctional staff, ensuring the implementation of initiatives that support physical and mental well-being
- Supervise and provide direction to subordinate Occupational Health Nurses, ensuring high-quality service and professional development
- Evaluate and refine work products, establishing and maintaining standards, procedures, and operational protocols
- Assess and provide recommendations regarding medical concerns of new applicants that may impact their ability to perform essential job functions
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and maintain medical standards aligned with the essential functions of correctional staff, securing approval from the agency Medical Manager
- Review and assess new applicant physicals for potential health concerns that could affect their performance as correctional officers
- Investigate and respond to workplace exposure incidents as needed, ensuring proper protocols are followed
- Maintain and analyze clinical treatment records and laboratory test results to support occupational health initiatives.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare professionals, treatment teams, and training personnel to ensure consistency and continuity in medical services
- Refer employees to appropriate community health or rehabilitation resources when necessary
- Participate in the development and management of the annual budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
- Monitor and maintain cost-effective inventory control for medical supplies and equipment
- Oversee procurement processes for medical materials and equipment, ensuring alignment with operational needs
- Represent the department by attending meetings, delivering presentations, and providing professional insights.
