Established in 1970, Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is one of 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System, with seven locations across several counties, including Brunswick, Charlotte, Nottoway, Mecklenburg, Greensville, and Halifax. Join Southside Virginia Community College in broadening students’ global perspectives through GEO 220: World Regional Geography. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course that examines the similarities and differences among the world’s major regions. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.

Course Content & Specific Duties:
Join Southside Virginia Community College in broadening students’ global perspectives through GEO 220: World Regional Geography. This is a Passport and UCGS transfer course that examines the similarities and differences among the world’s major regions. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.

Course Content & Specific Duties:
- Evaluate the ways in which people and places interact across space and time to produce specific spatial and environmental patterns.
- Introduce students to essential geographic tools, such as maps, to analyze regional data.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high-quality course materials align with college standards and learning outcomes.
- Maintain engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
- Support student success through active instruction and adherence to the community college mission.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Geography or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
