Job Description
We are the NBCUniversal Operations & Technology group - responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of services key to the processing and delivery of content for NBCUniversal’s consumer-facing digital products and experiences. Our group of product managers, software engineers, software quality engineers, and operations professionals are based in New York City, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and points in between. Comfort and the ability to work in an environment with distributed time zones will be key.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a broad background to participate in the ongoing development of a very large microservices-based system. We have a very collaborative environment and a distributed team; working conscientiously, energetically, and passionately is a must to be successful on this team. We are a mature Agile/Scrum shop and work in two-week sprints.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- 5+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of experience building scalable, high-volume services
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AWS native services such as S3, Lambda, Step Function, SQS, Eventbridge, Kinesis, DynamoDB etc.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js
- Multiple years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Demonstrable experience influencing and teaching fellow technologists
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Desired Characteristics:
- 1+ years of experience with TDD
- 3+ years of experience developing with Java and the Spring Framework is a plus
- 3+ years of experience developing with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB) is a plus
- 3+ years of experience developing containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
- Experience acting as a technical lead is a plus
- Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.

Salary range: $110,000 - $155,000
