Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Engineer - Remediation within our NY/NJ Remediation practice based out of New York, NY.

This position involves significant field work (approximately 90% field, 10% office) and is targeted towards an individual interested in a resident engineer or construction management role, and involves investigation, engineering, and construction management of projects associated with environmental remediation and construction. Construction and field work will include site inspections and sampling, contractor oversight, construction administration and management, including shop drawing review, and responding to contractor questions. Design work may include sampling plans, excavation and restoration design, environmental permitting, erosion and sediment control design, preparation of construction plans, cost estimates, and constructability reviews.

This position is expected to begin Summer 2024.  

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• May work closely with the design team and creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
• Assists the Project Management team with management administration on a small to moderate size and scope project, or a portion of a larger, more complex project, following set guidelines for tasks.
• Attend meetings and report on project tasks as needed.
• Field work in locations as appropriate (up to 90%).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or another related field.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in construction or remediation projects preferred.
• EIT, EI or ability to obtain prior to starting the position.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Project preferred.

• Offered rate of compensation (New York locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $83,000.
