Purpose
Lead Linux Operating System and Cybersecurity Integration Engineer to spearhead the Special Warfare Division’s operating systems and cybersecurity integration team in the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL). This technical leadership role involves management of the engineering team responsible for creating, deploying, and sustaining Linux operating system images for SWD's SENSOR development program.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of systems integration engineers with varied skillsets including Linux Operating Systems administration, configuration management and industry cybersecurity.
Lead the design, development and maintenance of custom Linux OS images for a variety of hardware platforms such as ARM and x86, ensuring they are optimized to support in-house developed software and firmware. Implement and maintain CI automation tools, track changes logs, release versions, tags, and bugs for all projects.
Ensure Linux OS images are SCAP validated, fully authenticated, and meet stringent cybersecurity standards as required by US Navy sponsors.
Facilitate planning and coordinate with project leads, engineers, and security specialists to understand project-specific needs, negotiate necessary exemptions from existing security policies, and ensure alignment with project goals. Provide regular reports on team progress, issues, and successes.
Oversee the integration process of operating system software with custom firmware on unique hardware configurations.
Implement a standardized approach to operating system configuration management lifecycle across SWD projects by leveraging and, when needed, developing custom software tools to automate and streamline the team's processes using languages like Python, Rust, Bash, TypeScript, and more.
Support existing deployed systems remotely and provide timely troubleshooting and updates.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Three years of experience in operating systems administration, integration, cybersecurity, or similar roles.
Proficiency in Python, Rust, Bash, TypeScript, and other relevant programming languages.
Proven experience with hardware and software integration, preferably with custom-built sensors and embedded systems.
Solid knowledge of cybersecurity practices, compliance standards and tools.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with CI/CD tools and automation practices.
Comfortable with occasional travel to provide support for deployed systems.
Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Navy or other military systems.
Advanced degree in a related field.
Relevant certifications in Cybersecurity and Systems Integration.
Experience with network and host-based security monitoring.
CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ certifications.
