Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students, the Director of Student Engagement & Leadership is responsible for developing a strong, student-focused co-curricular and extra-curricular office of Student Engagement. The Director will collaboratively develop vision, provide leadership, and supervise the programmatic, personnel, and operational components of the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership, while providing advising, mentoring and support for a broad range of organizations, activities, and events.Major program areas within the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership include; New Student Orientation, Programming Board, University Recognized Clubs and Organizations, Service Trip Student Governance, and Commuter Student Engagement. The Director will collaborate with professional staff and student leaders to set goals, assess student engagement efforts, develop innovative engagement activities and programs, evaluate organizational needs, problem-solve and serve as a liaison with other university departments essential to program implementation and success.
In addition, the Director will serve as the facilitator of the Office of Student Engagement leadership team; fully participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of the office mission to mentor student leaders, develop programs that enhance the student experience at Regis University, and encourage a sense of campus community that reflects our Jesuit identity.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Direction 15%
Provide strategic leadership through the planning, development and management of established and innovative student engagement practices.
Develops responsive programming that offer equitable access to all students that are grounded in best practices and trends in student engagement, student success and meet the unique needs of students.
Engages in ongoing assessment and evaluation of policies & procedures through an equity lens and make appropriate adjustments to remove barriers and enhance the student experience.
Designs, implements, and assesses student engagement processes, policies and programming that impact our most marginalized student’s ability to thrive including providing a wide variety of co-curricular opportunities that support the classroom experience.
Leadership & Supervision 30%
Develop strong office vision, cultivate an organizational culture that supports broad-based, inclusive, and mission-informed programming, activities and events for Regis University.
Evaluate office resources, align resources with strategic office plan and learning outcomes, and develop internal feedback loops.
Develop and implement mission-based structure to hire, train, supervise and evaluate professional and student staff.
Recruit, train, evaluate and supervise staff direct reports and departmental student staff regarding Student Engagement & Leadership processes, procedures, expectations and their roles within. Hold regular meetings and provide appropriate on-boarding and professional development opportunities for staff as needed.
Ensure the professional development training, and supervision of staff.
Work collaboratively with VPSA, AVP/Dean of Students, AVP Auxiliary Services, Housing & Residential Engagement, Student Disability Services, Academic Dean’s, Campus Safety, Health Services, Counseling Services and off-campus agencies (local authorities, medical facilities/personnel) as needed.
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with colleagues within the division as well as other campus stakeholders including but not limited to Academic Affairs, Admissions, Physical Plant, Campus Safety, Financial Aid, Bursar's, Registrar's, Information Technology, and Human Resources.
Event Planning & Management 25%
Identify, develop, implement, and maintain programmatic tools that support increased student engagement, annual assessment plans, and co-curricular programming.
Co-develop and lead campus-wide events such as New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, Blue & Gold Weekend, and Ranger Week.
