The VP, Senior HR Business Partner is a trusted advisor and coach to leaders in Technology, Product and Life Sciences, driving strategic HR initiatives that align with and drive Datavant’s mission and growth trajectory, enhance culture, and develop talent. This role partners with senior leaders to build high-performance, growth-oriented teams and addresses complex, sensitive organizational challenges with the right mix of strategy, decisiveness, and empathy. Key areas of focus include workforce planning, organization design, strategic initiatives, change management, and employee engagement to enable sustained growth and a positive workplace culture. This role is a hybrid role, with a need for on-site presence 2-3 days per week as needed.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to business leaders on all things People strategy for assigned client groups.
- Lead team of 3-4 HR professionals supporting the business who manage complex employee-related and organizational matters.
- Successfully partner with cross-functional teams to blend strategy, change management, and effective program development that aligns with Datavant’s growth plans.
- Communicate effectively at all levels across the organization.
- Execute strategies, initiatives, and projects aligned with business objectives. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to achieve desired results.
- Lead and advocate for business strategy, culture, and values through specific HR initiatives and partnerships.
- Lead talent and succession planning efforts to ensure a robust pipeline for future leaders.
- Leverage data and analytics to drive decision-making and measure the impact of HR initiatives on business outcomes.
- Play a key role in developing and influencing solutions that drive results and foster continuous improvement.
- Monitor the organizational culture and identify areas of concern based on factual information. Analyze trends and metrics in collaboration with the HR team and business unit leaders. Develop solutions, programs, and policies based on insights.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to leaders and employees, including coaching, counseling, career development, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
- Lead change in the face of organizational growth.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments including previous experience working in similar agile environments and staying up on cutting-edge trends in the People industry.
- Provide organizational effectiveness guidance to leaders so they can build high performance teams with inclusive cultures and clear expectations.
- Provide guidance and interpretation of existing company policies and administer core processes like retention agreements and investigations.
- Bring operational excellence including the ability to drive, deliver and improve upon strong People processes on both tactical and strategic levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or related field
- 10+ years’ experience in Human Resources/People function
- Experience supporting Product, Engineering and/or Life Science teams
- Located in New York City Metropolitan area
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
- Experience in leading teams of HR professionals
- Exceptional influencing and change management skills
- Experience in strategic HR business partnership supporting senior executives
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
- Experience working with a Human Capital Management system
- Ability to travel up to 20%
