Job Summary:
Urban Grid is seeking a capable Director of Contracts and Procurement. The Director of Contracts and Procurement will be responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement and contracting process for Urban Grid's solar energy projects. This position will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are developed and executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and on-time. The Director will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of experienced procurement professionals, developing and implementing strategic procurement initiatives, establishing a robust and data-driven purchasing process, and ensuring that all procurement activities are completed per schedule and serving as a point of escalation for any issues that arise.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with Urban Grid's overall business objectives.
- Establish a standardized procurement process that ensures consistent and efficient procurement across all projects.
- Deploy and utilize the procurement tools available in Procore for sourcing.
- Develop and maintain RFI (Request for Information) and RFP (Request for Proposal) templates to streamline the procurement process.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new suppliers and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring that Urban Grid receives the best value for its money.
- Manage the procurement pipeline from sourcing to contracting to post-contract management.
- Implement and monitor a comprehensive quality control program to ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet Urban Grid's standards.
- Optimize the supply chain to reduce lead times and improve project delivery timelines.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices in procurement.
- Represent Urban Grid at industry events and conferences to network with potential suppliers and collaborators.
- Mentor and develop the skills of procurement team members, ensuring that they have the knowledge and expertise to perform their roles effectively.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of the procurement team and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
- Ensure that all procurement activities are completed per schedule and milestones.
- Identify and resolve any procurement issues that arise, acting as a point of escalation for any problems that need to be addressed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field. A masters degree or relevant certification is a plus.
- 12+ years of experience in solar procurement or a related field.
- Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a role with a focus on solar energy projects.
- In-depth knowledge of solar technologies, equipment, and industry trends.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of procurement fundamentals, including sourcing, contracting, and quality assurance.
