We’re currently growing our team of Artisans with a Senior Buyer. This role will be located at our Houston Distribution Center (HDC). The Sourcing and Procurement team is a trusted and integrated business partner that maximizes value throughout the supply chain by basing its decisions upon RTI’s mission and core behaviors. The Senior Buyer will report to the Director of Sourcing and Asset Management and lead the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential to the Business.

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Senior Buyer will work closely with suppliers, maintenance, engineering, and operations teams, and other internal stakeholders to ensure cost-effective and efficient procurement processes while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.  
• Actively monitors industry trends and best practices.
• Receives and reviews purchase requisitions, utilizing the appropriate ERP system or other approved purchasing methods. 
• Provides support in reviewing planning levels and issues purchase orders for mechanical components, assemblies, and industrial equipment and services in accordance with specifications and demand schedules/requisitions. 
• Manages the ordering process, ensuring PO is kept accurate at all times by actively working on the supplier’s order acknowledgements. 
• Follows up on issued purchase orders, ensuring deliveries occur as agreed with the supplier. If needed, expedite the delivery, keeping internal customers informed of any changes.  
• Issues RFQ’s and RFP’s to satisfy demand.
• Maintains accurate records of all procurement transactions and supplier communications. 
• Maintains the cost savings reporting tool and communicates results monthly. 
• Assists in sourcing alternative suppliers or materials as needed due to supply constraints or performance issues. 
• Monitors and documents supplier performance with a focus on on-time delivery, responsiveness, and quality. Supports the maintenance and regular updates of supplier scorecards.
• Collaborates with suppliers and business stakeholders to resolve order discrepancies, delays, or quality issues. 
• Interacts with the Accounts Payable department when resolving supplier invoice/purchase order discrepancies, as necessary.
• Works closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Inventory Management teams to ensure alignment regarding material requirements and delivery expectations. 
• Profiles categories of spend in context of company business plans to support the execution of sourcing and procurement strategies. 
• Analyze financial data and market intelligence, including spend, markets, and supply chains.
• Works with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement of procurement and supply chain processes. 
• Responds in a timely manner and works collaboratively with both internal customers and suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree (SCM, Business, Economics, Industrial Distribution or Technical).
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. 
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrates strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Highly organized and disciplined.
• Shows attention to detail and deals with ambiguity.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates interest in helping others, works well as a team member, has a positive attitude, and enjoys development of new relationships. 
• Able to perform thorough analysis of vendor quality, responsiveness, and total cost.

• Knowledge of and experience in sourcing, procurement, and/or supply chain management.
