About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Users and Accounts API team. The Users and Accounts team owns the foundational APIs that power user identity, account lifecycle management, KYC/AML workflows, and account configuration across DriveWealth's brokerage platform. These APIs are consumed by external partners and internal product teams alike, making them among the most critical and high-traffic services in our ecosystem.
In this role, you will serve as both a people leader and a technical owner for the Users and Accounts domain. You will drive the team's roadmap, prioritize initiatives based on partner needs and business impact, and ensure that the APIs your team owns are reliable, performant, well-documented, and easy for developers to integrate with.
This is a high-impact leadership role that requires strong technical judgment, deep understanding of API-first product development, and the ability to operate effectively in a regulated fintech environment where correctness, security, and compliance are non-negotiable.
What You’ll Do
Domain Strategy & API Ownership
- Own the Users and Accounts API roadmap, aligned with partner onboarding goals, regulatory requirements, and product growth
- Act as the domain owner for user identity, account lifecycle, KYC/AML, and account configuration - ensuring API contracts are well-designed, versioned, and backward compatible
- Define success metrics for the team's APIs (e.g., API reliability, latency SLAs, error rates)
- Ensure APIs are designed with external developers in mind — clear contracts, comprehensive documentation, consistent error handling, and intuitive behavior
- Extend and enforce API design standards, versioning policies, and deprecation practices for the Users and Accounts domain
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers
- Establish clear expectations, goals, and career development paths for team members
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and accountability for the APIs the team ships
Delivery & Execution
- Drive predictable delivery of API features and improvements using agile practices
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality, well-tested code with a strong emphasis on backward compatibility and zero-downtime deployments
- Manage technical tradeoffs between delivery speed, API stability, and long-term maintainability
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and practices to improve team velocity, code quality, and testing coverage across the Users and Accounts domain
Cross-Team Collaboration & Influence
- Partner closely with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure user and account APIs meet regulatory requirements (KYC, AML, data residency, privacy)
- Collaborate with Core Platform, DevOps, and SRE teams to ensure the team's services are well-instrumented, scalable, and operationally sound
- Work with Product, Partnerships, and Professional Services to understand partner needs and translate them into API improvements
- Communicate domain direction, API changes, and deprecation timelines clearly to both internal stakeholders and external partners
What You’ll Need
- 8–12 years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in an engineering management role
- Strong technical background in building and
