About the role

Job Summary
Works daily to ensure customer payments across multiple lines of CSX business are processed timely and accurately to customer accounts. Utilizes credit bureau resources to review and approve/deny customer credit applications to establish or maintain customer relationships. Collaborates with Accounts Receivable team to provide long-term solutions to correct repetitive problems. Perform cash receipt reconciliations to ensure all treasury activity related to customer deposits is properly reflected within the general ledger and sub-systems.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Works in internal and external systems to identify customer payments and remittance detail, contacts customers for payment detail for matching with payments, identifies trends and patterns to resolve discrepancies to ensure payments are applied correctly
  • Resolves complex cash and banking issues in a timely and professional manner. Prepares reconciliations, and research discrepancies
  • Utilizes various credit agencies and internal resources to evaluate customer credit applications for approval or denial, reviewing customer payment history and delinquencies to protect CSX assets
  • Collaborates with Technology and other Business Partners to resolve, improve, and implement solutions
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA Degree/2-year undergraduate degree program
  • 1 or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Cash Applications or Collections.

Equivalent Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Cash Applications or Collections

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Cash Applications or Collections
  • Experience with SAP

Knowledge and Skills

  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)
  • Ability to identify trends and patterns
  • Highly analytical
  • Ability to address multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills to build relationships with customers
