Description

Purpose: 

The Comfort Zone Peer Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Comfort Zone, a peer-run drop-in center rooted in trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and harm reduction principles. The Peer Supervisor provides direct supervision and support to Comfort Zone Peer Specialists, ensuring high-quality, person-centered services and a welcoming, low-barrier environment for community members. This position plays a key role in shaping program culture, supervising staff, coordinating services, and collaborating with broader agency and community partners. 

 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Supervision and Staff Support 
    • Provide regular 1:1 supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to all Comfort Zone peer staff. 
    • Support staff in maintaining healthy boundaries, upholding peer values, and navigating complex participant dynamics. 
    • Address staff conflicts, performance concerns, and scheduling needs in collaboration with the Program Admin. 
    • Coordinate team meetings, group supervision, and reflective practice spaces for staff development and cohesion. 
    • Support staff in adhering to documentation requirements and track timely completion. 
  • Program Oversight 
    • Ensure daily operations of Comfort Zone run smoothly, including opening/closing protocols, safety procedures, and overall site maintenance. 
    • Monitor the drop-in environment to promote a welcoming and trauma-informed atmosphere. 
    • Respond to critical incidents and safety concerns using non-coercive and de-escalation approaches. 
    • Collect and report program metrics, feedback, and incident reports as required. 
  • Community Engagement and Accessibility 
    • Facilitate and oversee peer-led activities, outings, and group planning to reflect participant needs and interests. 
    • Support and oversee outreach efforts to increase engagement, particularly for underrepresented communities. 
    • Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with local service providers, referring partners, and community supports. 
    • Represent Comfort Zone in community meetings, coalitions, or advocacy efforts as appropriate. 
  • General Responsibilities 
    • Ensure timely submission of required documentation, logs, and reports. 
    • Model recovery principles and ethical peer practice in all interactions. 
    • Support donation tracking and resource management in collaboration with team. 
    • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, peer certification standards, and confidentiality requirements. 
    • Participate in organizational initiatives, leadership meetings, and other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Must have lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges, substance use, housing instability, etc., and be able to articulate how that experience informs peer support practice. 
  • Current Oregon state-recognized Peer Support Specialist, Peer Wellness Specialist, or Certified Recovery Mentor certification required at time of hire. 
  • Individuals with a history of substance use must have at least one year of continuous recovery prior to hire and be committed to maintaining sobriety. 
  • Minimum of one year experience providing peer support services required. 
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a peer-run or behavioral health setting strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed care, harm reduction, recovery values, and anti-oppression principles. 

 

Supervision Received: 

  • Receive regular supervision from the Director of Peer Services, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary. 
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and group supervision as required.
