Position Overview:

This position is a unique opportunity to provide stroke care in a prehospital setting. This Mobile Stroke Unit has been operating within San Mateo County for over 6 years and was part of the BEST MSU clinical trial. As coordinator you will be treating both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes while working directly with EMS, CT technologist and a Stroke Neurologist. Some clinical knowledge of basic stroke care is preferred. Additional Job description outlined below.

Plans, develops, coordinates and directs the operation of a clinical nursing program. Oversees the execution of procedures and adherence to proper protocols and develops and/or administers performance improvement initiatives for the program. Assumes responsibility for program quality and compliance, and the education and competency of nursing staff. Serves as a clinical and educational consultant to the nursing staff, medical staff, management, patients and other members of the health care team regarding the program. Provide direct patient care as needed, on an irregular basis.

EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

DEPARTMENT REQUIRED EDUCATION:
BSN: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
 

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
RN-Registered Nurse
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

ACLS-Advance Life Support

DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

NIHSS: National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

5 years of experience in critical care preferably in ICU or ED unit

Preferred: Experience in treatment and management of a stroke patient in a critical care setting.

Preferred: Experience or related to Clinical Program Nurse Coordination or process improvement.

Pay Range is $87.08 to $114.94 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
