Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 33-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 15-bed Memory Support Unit. 


Harbor's Edge is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician II [Electrician] to join our Plant Operations Team at our state-of-the-art facility located in downtown Norfolk. This role will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, responding promptly to electrical emergencies, including power outages, circuit failures, and malfunctions, while ensuring the safety of residents and staff and maintaining a safe working environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills, including installation and troubleshooting of electrical systems. Additionally, the successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and customer service skills. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including circuit breakers, lighting, wiring, and power distribution systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.  
  •  Install, repair, and replace electrical equipment and fixtures, including outlets, switches, light fixtures, and electrical panels, while adhering to safety protocols and local electrical codes. 
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime, extend the lifespan of assets, and ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical regulations. 
  • Install individual parts (pumps, pipes, fans, etc.).
  • Using power tools safely.
  • Must have strong refrigeration and electrical theory.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot up to 20-ton RTUs.
  • Must have experience in compressor and reversing valve change out.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as needed.
  •  Work closely with other maintenance team members and management to coordinate projects, provide support during facility upgrades, and maintain accurate records of work performed, including preventive maintenance schedules and safety inspections. 

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience.
  • Experience in general maintenance and Electrical work including use of hand tools and other tools of the trade.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Able to trouble shoot and correct issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Seek out new, better methods and principles, willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Able to meet objectives and achieve goals with a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written skills.
  • Consistently demonstrate service excellence and tact when interacting with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
