This 10-week paid internship runs June 1 – August 7, 2026, at select TEGNA stations nationwide.
Many interns launch full-time TEGNA careers right after the program.
What You’ll Do
- Pitch and research stories that matter
- Create content for streaming, digital, social, and TV
- Work alongside reporters, producers, anchors, and meteorologists—sometimes in the field
- Jump in on special projects that shape local coverage

- The standard compensation rate is $15.00 per hour unless a higher state or local minimum wage overrides it. Notable exceptions include:
- Denver, CO - $19.29 per hour
- Sacramento, CA - $16.90 per hour
- San Diego, CA - $17.25 per hour
- Seattle, WA - $20.76 per hour
- Spokane, WA - $16.66 per hour
What We’re Looking For
- Current college juniors or seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Studying journalism, communications, or a related major
- Passion for one of these three career paths:
- TV news producing
- TV news reporting
- TV meteorology
- Experience writing, editing, fact-checking, and using digital/social tools
- Strong communicator who never misses deadlines
This internship is not for sports or film. It’s for hard-news journalists and meteorologists ready to disrupt the industry and deliver information in new ways that meet audiences where they are.
