As a Sr. Scheduler within the Commercial Supply & Trading department, you will coordinate product movements via barge, pipeline, truck, ship or rail and ensure correct type, quantity and timing of the load/unload activity.

  • Manage appropriate inventory positions that balance the existing market conditions, wholesale forecasts, production schedules, and logistics constraints to keep terminals adequately supplied and refineries balanced.
  • Communicate with traders, refinery personnel, wholesale, terminal operators, and logistics operators to develop a schedule.
  • Nominate and support actualizing and documenting movements in SAP
  • Proactively adjust the schedule when conflicting objectives disrupt planned movements
  • Understand contractual requirements and manage secondary costs to move products in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Accruesand track secondary costs accurately in SAP.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced Schedulers and provide back-up support to other Schedulers, as needed.

Scheduler duties may be performed in one of the following departments: 

Scheduler- Marine: 

  • Participates in the execution of all activities involved in the operations and scheduling of ocean vessels operating on behalf of the Company
    Schedules product movements via barge or ship and ensures correct type, quantity, and timing of the load/unload activity
    Monitors trading cargoes and works closely with all parties involved in vessel operations and regulatory agencies on a worldwide basis

Scheduler- Products & Crude/Feedstock: 

  • Schedules deliveries via barges, pipelines, and other distribution methods, issues movement orders, and maintains inventory positions for assigned areas by balancing market demand and sales with available supply 
  • Manages appropriate inventory positions that balance the existing market conditions, wholesale forecasts, production schedules, and logistics constraints to keep terminals adequately supplied and refineries balanced

Scheduler- Rail: 

  • Schedules product movements via rail and ensures correct type, quantity, and timing of the load/unload activity
  • Optimizes turnaround on reconciling freight/transportation invoices, dispatches truck carriers for product delivery, provides customer support, and resolves any logistical requirements for product and cost savings efficiencies to further maximize Valero’s profitability

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas required: Logistics, Transportation (all means), Business/Financial Analysis, Marine Operations, Military, Oil & Gas/Refining/Petrochemical Industry.
  • Able and willing to manage assigned operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays as needed, required. 
  • Able and willing to work onsite and in-person on a full-time basis at the Valero San Antonio headquarters, required.
