The Role

Sets direction for systems, networks, user services and vendor development efforts.  Defines the direction for the organization, standards, and tests systems and hardware to ensure interoperability and validates features and functions. Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices. Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms. Configures systems to user environments. Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services. Regarded as a subject matter expert and may act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities.

Work Location: This is a Work from Home position within the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, engineer, and budget complete projects supporting network optimization and consolidation to include SONET, DWDM, OSP, ISP, IP, Critical Infrastructure
  • Uses best practices when engineering projects to meet financial obligations for ROI while still maintaining network architecture and protection schemes
  • Blend technical, organizational, and financial aspects into valid business solutions pulling from a level of knowledge which encompasses company, technology, and industry
  • Identify systematic gaps with internal processes and applications to develop and implement solutions
  • Requires limited direction and guidance and largely works independently
  • Identifies and champions change, new technology, applications, processes, and systems to align and enhance business priorities
  • Acts as team lead supporting prioritization of projects, project distribution and assignments, reporting on performance and production values
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert for a variety of network layers, processes and/or applications

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Typically, 10+ years related experience
  • 8+ years related experience with Master’s degree.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

 

$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
