CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
The Assistant Dean, Student Services is responsible for ensuring the continued success of Lerners Global Programs and Partnerships, including most prominently the SWUFE-UD Joint Educational Institute (JEI), and the development, implementation, and management of new global programs between Lerner and international partner institutions.The Assistant Dean, Student Services reports to the Senior Associate Dean. In collaboration with multiple departments within the College, the Assistant Dean, Student Services coordinates and integrates the efforts of multiple units, including Admissions, English Language Institute, Registrars Office, Professional and Continuing Studies, Student Financial Services and Center for Global Programs and Services to ensure the smooth functioning of the SWUFE-UD JEI and other Lerner global programs. The Assistant Dean, Student Services is responsible for managing the Lerner Global Programs and Partnerships team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement policies and procedures to ensure the long- term success and sustainability of Lerner global programs, primarily the SWUFE-UD JEI.
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with academic and administrative stakeholders across campus and between institutions.
- Lead, motivate, and manage staff to achieve program excellence and operational efficiency; coordinate work schedules and monitor task assignments to meet team goals.
- Ensure dual degree curriculum for SWUFE-UD JEI and other dual degree programs aligns with UDs institutional and accreditation standards and requirements.
- Manage the annual SWUFE-UD JEI curriculum negotiation process and document approved revisions and modifications.
- Provide guidance to JEI students on course enrollment, academic standing, and graduation requirements.
- Address escalated JEI student concerns and provide resolutions in a timely manner. Identify at-risk JEI students and implement interventions to promote retention and success.
- Provide guidance to JEI students about transfer credit policies, eligibility, and how credits apply toward their degree requirements.
- Advise on exchange opportunities available to students in the SWUFE-UD JEI and assist in transfer credit process.
- Provide guidance and support for SWUFE-UD JEI 2+2 and 3+1 students on matriculation, transfer credit, major(s)/minor(s), and transitioning to the Newark campus.
- Maintain degree audit records to verify completion of degree requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree or higher, preferably in higher education administration, international education, or a related field. Five years in academic advising, program management or related roles within higher education.
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing academic partnerships, preferably at the university level.
- Advanced knowledge of curriculum, academic policies and procedures, and student services at the university level.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with various university academic and administrative departments.
- Strong project management skills. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a diverse, international environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of global higher education trends and best practices for international collaboration (preferred).
- Demonstrates and understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures and backgrounds.
