We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to take full ownership of our Portuguese entity’s accounting, tax, and financial reporting activities. In this key role, you’ll act as the local finance expert, managing all statutory and tax compliance requirements under Portuguese Local GAAP and helping drive efficiency and excellence across our finance operations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will:

- Operate as our local finance lead, serving as the bridge between Portuguese accounting standards and our centralized group accounting team in the Netherlands.
- Independently manage the Purchase-to-Pay process, ensuring all (company wide) invoices and payments are processed timely and accurately.
- Take ownership of month-end close activities for both the Portuguese entity and selected consolidated areas, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Support group-level reporting, external audits, and consolidation activities in close collaboration with our Dutch-based Accounting & Reporting team.
- Continuously improve finance processes, leveraging tools like Workday, OCR, and automation technologies like AI to enhance efficiency.
- Act as a key point of contact for local financial and tax authorities and liaise with external service providers when needed.
What Makes You the Perfect Fit:
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, obtained in Portugal.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a role with exposure to local statutory and tax responsibilities.
- Certified Accountant (Contabilista Certificado) status or equivalent in order to be able to legally sign off and file the Annual Financial Statements and the Corporate Income Tax (IRC) on behalf of a company.
- In-depth knowledge of Portuguese GAAP and strong familiarity with tax legislation (VAT, CIT, etc.). IFRS knowledge is a plus.
- A proactive and self-driven attitude, with the ability to work independently while staying closely connected to the Dutch headquarters team.
- A strong personality with excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating across countries and departments.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, tech-enabled environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
