As an Occupational Health Nurse for Freeport Site Medical, within the Site Services group, you will build a meaningful career supporting the health and wellness of Freeport Site workers. The BASF Freeport, Texas site has over 950 employees and 800 contract workers across multiple business units. Since 1958, the BASF Freeport Site has been an integral part of Brazoria County. 

As a Occupational Health Nurse, You Create Chemistry By...

•    Provide acute nursing assessment, testing, treatment and case management of work-related injuries and illnesses while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. This also includes coordination with site Emergency Medical Services personnel and rotating on call responsibilities outside regular clinic hours. 
•    Assure an optimal return to productive work following injury or illness by conducting fitness for duty evaluations and coordinated management of rehabilitative and reintegration measures while collaborating with managers, Human Resources and the BASF Leave management team.
•    Coordinate, schedule and conduct medical surveillance testing and biological monitoring. This would include regular maintenance, stocking and testing of equipment and supplies required to complete services. 
•    Coordinate, schedule and conduct random, pre-placement, for cause and/or follow up drug and alcohol testing of Freeport Site employees in accordance with BASF and United States Department of Transportation requirements. Communicate with Human Resources, outside vendor and BASF Corporate medical as appropriate. 
•    Function as a subject matter expert for occupational health and wellness inquiries, and BASF Corporate Medical requirements. Implement BASF Corporate Medical Wellness Program initiatives to Freeport Site employees. Prepare and deliver periodic presentations to work groups on health and wellness related topics. 

* Overtime work – infrequent, but  could include night or weekends/holidays

If you...

• Have a current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse and up to date basic life support/CPR certification. 
•  Are competent in the use of basic computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 
• Technical proficiency in phlebotomy, physical assessment, and acute injury/illness nursing care. 
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues within and outside of your primary work group.
• At least 5 years of work experience as a registered nurse
• Certification in Occupational Health Nursing
• Trained in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
• DOT drug testing collector certification
• Certified in Occupational Hearing Conservation
• NIOSH trained/certified in performing and interpreting pulmonary function testing 
• Experienced in working with safety professionals and Workers’ Compensation
