BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to assist management by analyzing and coordinating facility, equipment, and vehicle maintenance. The Maintenance Supervisor is also expected to assist with the efforts to maintain and repair physical structures of buildings, equipment, and ground maintenance by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review, assign, and inspect the completion of work order assignments for the Lead Maintenance Technician and the Maintenance Technicians. Coach and encourage other Maintenance Technicians on their work to ensure we are striving for excellence and being fiscally sound. Mark within maintenance tracking system the progress on each work order.
  2. Will supervise all Facilities Maintenance personnel (facility maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping) and delegates/assists activities and projects where necessary.
  3. Assist the Sac Metro HR contact with the recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding/training process of new maintenance technicians, as vacancies occur.
  4. Inspects, repairs, and maintains all of the properties of the Sacramento County Operations, including the Alhambra campus, and recommends outside contractors when needed.
  5. Schedules and performs regular maintenance and repairs on heating and air conditioning units. Replaces filters as scheduled.
  6. Maintains and repairs mechanical equipment on a regular schedule.
  7. Replaces lights, fuses and batteries as needed.
  8. Performs electrical and motor repairs as needed.
  9. Paints rooms, buildings, including officers’ quarters and does masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.
  10. When requested, assist in directing volunteers engaged in ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
  11. Interprets company policies to volunteer workers and enforces safety regulations.
  12. Provides preventive vehicle maintenance to all Sacramento County Operations vehicles (belts, hoses, fluids, oil change, wiper blades).
  13. Performs routine safety checks with site supervisors.
  14. Oversee all maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, equipment, and vehicle maintenance operations of each facility Countywide.
  15. Maintain accurate and timely data into Salvation Army approved property software platforms such as UpKeep Maintenance Management.
  16. Implement and regularly update comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules for all facilities, equipment, and vehicles. This includes identifying maintenance needs, setting optimal maintenance intervals, coordinating with sites to ensure timely execution, and maintaining detailed records of all maintenance activities. Ensure that all PM tasks are completed efficiently to prevent equipment failures and extend the lifespan of assets, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  17. Assist in coordination of the Christmas effort.
  18. Respond to any overnight or weekend facility related emergencies.
  19. Other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years of experience in building and property maintenance and/or equipment repair.
  2. The ability to pay attention to detail, set priorities for projects and maintaining an inventory of supplies as needed.
  3. Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks.
  4. Ability to professionally and accurately operate in a work environment with multiple priorities.
  5. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a DOT-Regulated Salvation Army vehicle
  6. Must pass pre-employment and enroll in TSA random drug testing program as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT); and
  7. Must pass annual Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  8. Must be able to drive a forklift safely and be forklift certified.
  9. Will be required to pass a behind the wheel road test.
  10. Must be 21 years or older.
  11. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  12. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
