Control Risks is seeking a skilled and dynamic business developer to serve as a Senior Consultant based in New York. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with highly regarded practitioners and subject matter experts to rapidly increase sales to both in-house legal buyers and the law firm community as part of Control Risks’ Legal Channel Program. In this role, the Senior Consultant will be expected to generate sales, business development and profile-raising opportunities within the legal buyer community along the US East Coast and will work alongside senior stakeholders for Control Risks’ Forensics business and across key service lines including Business Intelligence, Digital + Data Insights and Cyber.
The focus of this position is to:
- Drive business development activities resulting in increased pipeline sourced through the Legal Channel – i.e., corporate in-house counsel and external law firms. The ideal candidate will leverage their relationships with both internal and external legal advisors to drive relevant Control Risks solutions to our clients.
- Support the execution of the Legal Channel growth strategy, working closely with Control Risks’ Forensic Services teams and key service lines on consistent messaging of Control Risks’ value proposition.
Tasks and responsibilities
Business development and brand building:
- Promote, build, and develop Control Risks’ portfolio of clients and brand within the Legal Channel in key strategic markets along the US East Coast.
- Develop senior consultative relationships with legal and compliance teams and law firms.
- Collaborate with all Control Risks service lines to identify legal buyer relationships and sales prospects.
- Build a sales pipeline to achieve revenue goals with assumed conversion rates.
- Seek out and participate in marketing campaigns and events.
- Grow the business within the Legal Channel by maintaining and building knowledge of industry and regulatory trends.
- Collaborate with US Geomarket Leaders and the Sales Operations team to help drive business development activity.
Account management and market growth activities:
- Act as a client account manager for select accounts.
- Coordinate and manage specific legal buyer initiatives.
- Support internal leadership in engaging with the legal buyer community across clients and prospects to meet the market’s financial targets.
- Seize opportunities to onboard new clients and connect them with the appropriate contacts within Control Risks.
- Collaborate with Marketing and service line teams to drive and support the marketing/sales legal buyer strategy.
Requirements
Knowledge and experience
- Understanding and articulating the business benefits of forensic services and complementary solution offerings and capabilities across business intelligence, digital forensics, eDiscovery, and data & analytics across industries, emphasizing the development and maintenance of deep and expansive relationships within the legal community.
- Driving business development and lead generation through external channels, emphasizing channel pipeline focus and marketing campaigns within the Legal Channel.
- Proven business development skills and experience identifying and securing new clients and a solid track record of increasing revenue within current/active client accounts.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior decision makers and top corporate management in a variety of situations.
- Act as CRM and Sales Navigator super-user and advocate. Demonstrate leadership in connection with our sales data.
- Client-facing business development experience with law firms desired.
- Familiarity with regulatory risk and investigations desired.
Qualifications, specialist skills and competencies
- Skilled at communicating with diverse audiences of varying degrees of expertise through written and oral presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent client-facing skills.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills.
- Advanced degree in business, law or a related field desired.

The base salary range for this position in New York City is $115,000-$130,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per the NYC Wage Transparency Law.
