About the role
Adverum is looking for an Sr. Accountant to join our team in our Redwood City office. This position will manage functions within Accounting Operations, including fixed assets, cash management, general ledger for accounts that he/she is responsible for, and global consolidation. The Sr. Accountant will report to and work closely with the Associate Director, Accounting and others in the organization in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
What you’ll do:
- Reporting to the Director of Accounting Operations, the Senior GL Accountant will:
- Function as a key person in the Company’s monthly financial close process including monthly accruals, prepaid expense amortization and bank reconciliations. Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts including inter-company accounts;
- Assist with the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial statements including foreign currency re-measurement, translation, and intercompany eliminations;
- Manage Fixed Asset accounting. Process fixed assets purchases, disposals, depreciations in NetSuite and record to related General Ledger accounts. Perform periodical analysis for Fixed assets including the quarterly worldwide Fixed Asset Roll Forward;
- Perform variance analysis on financial statement accounts as assigned;
- Support day-to-day accounting operations for domestic and international operations;
- Assist annual audits, quarterly reviews and SOX testing. Prepare support for audit requests as assigned;
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy, SOX compliance and generally accepted accounting practices;
- Ad Hoc task to support the Controller’s group.
About You:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years hands-on relevant experience, preferably at public companies, with a wide range of exposures in general ledger, Fixed Assets, monthly close, and global consolidations.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SOX.
- Experience in NetSuite or larger ERP, including financial reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with other Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and balance competing priorities in a progressive environment. Also ability to step up to manage people
