Position Overview:

Category Managers are responsible for the Go-To-Market strategy, inclusive of product needs, channels to market, product positioning, pricing, promotion, required sales tools, packaging requirements, trade shows and other marketing initiatives. They are responsible for looking at the existing product portfolio, and new ideas/innovation coming from Product Managers to determine what markets could be served by our Power System products. Category Managers are also responsible for defining product gaps in portfolio where market gain is possible and present the gaps to Product Managers. This role would have an emphasis on our OEM channel products and customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and own Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies to increase share of wallet, market share or enter new markets.
  • Organize and manage cross-functional initiatives to launch GTM strategies.
  • Provide inputs to Marketing for trade shows, promotional activities, and other programs.
  • Partner with Sales to win new opportunities that require support around product, pricing, training, marketing, or other initiatives.
  • Evaluate and manage Sales opportunities, from inception through completion.
  • Define, prioritize, and develop the business case for key market/customer driven product initiatives.
  • Work closely with Product Management on key product initiatives to ensure alignment with market/customer requirements.
  • Develop strategies to manage slow moving inventory.
  • Provide input to Product Management for Portfolio Planning.
  • Analyze pricing, programs, and channel coverage to drive growth and market share and NPD launches
  • Monitor and make recommendations to improve operational efficiencies, quality issues, warranty/servicing costs, margins, and forecasting
  • Identify strategic customer opportunities
  • Support the company's participation in trade shows and other special events
  • All other duties assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Act as a champion for the assigned market category throughout the implementation of GTM strategies.
  • Demonstrated business leadership abilities. Proven track record of leading teams directly and indirectly, to achieve business growth.
  • Demonstrated willingness to challenge the status quo and constructively drive change while fostering teamwork and core corporate values.
  • Communicate effectively with different levels and functional groups within and outside the organization including Customers, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Engineering.
  • Strong strategic perspective. Ability to identify consumer, customer, product, and industry trends and develop strategies to take advantage of market opportunities.
  • Excel in problem solving, innovation, team participation, and self-motivation.
  • Fundamental understanding of operational processes, financial planning, pricing, margins, costs, inventories, and financial statements
  • Working with teams to achieve GTM strategies meeting Performance, Quality, Cost and Timing targets.
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to understand electro-mechanical products, along with the benefits they provide to a consumer.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in category, market or product management or related field, preferably in durable goods
  • Proven ability to drive growth through an understanding of the consumer and market, along with the development and execution of strategic plans and initiatives.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid working schedule in office environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
